Acer Aspire One
My Sony VAIO had a baby. It's name is AspireOne. The new Baby (laptop) weighs just under 3 pounds and can run 8 hours on a single feeding (battery charge).
It's been on since 9:30 am this morning and it's now 11pm and I still have 20 minutes of battery life to go. Now it hasn't been on continuously all day; like I closed the lid while driving to work, and didn't use it while eating lunch, but you get the idea. It's much the same as my first cell phone where I just charge it overnight and the battery last all day. The whole package is smaller than my Franklyn Planer.
So here it is from start to finish:
The laptop in it's case is as small as my Franklyn Planner.
The laptop comes in blue, white, black, and red.
The keyboard is 96% the size of a regular keyboard. The shift key is properly placed and the thumb pad can be easily turned off with a keyboard short cut. I only wish the delete key and backspace keys were moved to where the page down and up keys are; or just closer to the shift key so i don't have to visually search for them.
After a long wait, there is finally a laptop light enough to sit on my lap without putting my legs asleep. I've created this page, uploaded the images, and typed my text on the Acer Aspire One while watching Poltergeist on TV. Between watching the movie and working on this page, the laptop has been on my lap for about 90 minutes. Now try that with a typical 7 pound laptop and see how after 15 minutes, your legs start to go numb and fall asleep.
My Nikon D60 memory chip plugs right into the 7 in 1 card reader, making uploading these images almost too easy,, and the WiFi link allows me to be totally wire free.
The 160 GB hard drive is plenty big. Software I'm currently running includes Office 2007, Sharepoint Designer, Photoshop CS3, Outlook, Snag-it, and QuickBooks. Also, contrary to popular belief, I was able to install 2 GB of RAM.
