Before you even think about attempting to repair an virus or ad-ware infected computer, you must first patch the operating system; otherwise, even if you successfully remove a virus or ad-ware parasite, your computer will be re-infected upon the next reboot or upon browsing the internet.

Step #1  Patching the operating system.

Not running Windows Update on your computer
is like never changing the oil in your car.

CAN'T ACCESS THE INTERNET?

Try this step in Safe Mode with Networking.

Power on the PC and repeatedly tap the F8 key to get a startup menu; select safe mode with net-working.

Now your parasite and many virus won't be able to load and prevent you from accessing the network or your computers web-browser.

What is Windows Update?  It is the free service offered to everyone running a computer with the Microsoft Windows operating system that will keep your computer's operating system up-to-date.  Everyone should visit the Windows Update WEB Site every 3 months or 3000 miles too check for new updates, and download and install all updates that are considered Critical.  The opening page looks like this:

Windows Update Site Screen ShotIf you haven't been to this site then it is very likely you will need to download an activeX control needed to scan for required updates.  Reply OK if asked to download and install the applet, then run the Express Installation repeatedly until no further updates are required.  If you are asked to reboot, do so and then immediately return to the site again, rescan and apply updates.

After you have your system completely patched, your ready for Step 2.
